PROFILE

Positron Inc.
Established in 1970, Positron is a holding and operating company that develops and manufactures telecommunications equipment for high reliability, critical service applications. Positron Inc. has several high-tech operating subsidiaries in the telecom domain, including Positron Access Solutions and Positron Investment Corporation, which invests in development and emerging companies.

Positron Access Solutions
Positron Access Solutions manufactures telecommunications equipment including communications protection for high voltage environments (Power Division) and fiber optic transmission equipment (Transport Division) for SONET/SDH and packet based carrier networks. With headquarters in Montreal and offices throughout North America, Positron's global footprint extends from the United States and Canada through Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and the South Pacific.

Positron is ISO 9001:2000 certified and has received the Canada Export Award. In addition, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) awarded Positron two awards for leadership in developing new technologies.

  • Power Division
Positron develops and manufactures high voltage isolation products to protect telecommunications circuits entering substations, power generating plants and any high voltage area that is susceptible to the effects of Ground Potential Rise (GPR). Positron is the market leader in providing high quality, reliable fiber and copper based isolation equipment that meets the highest industry standards. Worldwide, there are more Positron isolator circuits deployed than any other vendor. Positron is the only equipment vendor in the market to offer a complete line of copper (Teleline) and fiber based (TeleLite) high-voltage isolation/protection solutions.

  • Transport Division
Positron develops and manufactures a broad portfolio of fiber optic transmission equipment for applications including Metro Ethernet Networks, Core transport networks, access and edge aggregation, wireless and triple-play backhaul, and thin-route access transport. The Positron portfolio includes the OSIRIS and OSIRIS Compact multi-service platforms (MSP), integrated access solutions for the rapidly expanding synchronous optical network (SONET/SDH) broadband markets. OSIRIS delivers a simple-to-deploy solution for multi-service traffic such as data, voice, and video with the full robustness and availability of SONET-based fiber optic rings for the most demanding carrier applications. With over 25,000 nodes deployed worldwide, OSIRIS has a demonstrated track record of reliability and ease-of-use throughout the world.

Positron’s Converged Access Device portfolio includes the pseudowire based AEX-50/100 and Ethernet over PDH based AEX-55/110 terminals and aggregators for the edge of access and metro networks. The portfolio provides end-users and carriers flexible choices for backhaul of today’s mix of voice and data services for wireless, business services and triple-play offerings.

Positron’s transport portfolio is easily managed by the VUE graphical element and craft management system, which is based on scalable client-server architecture.
