The OSIRIS Compact is an ultra-compact SONET / SDH flex access node that provides a unique, simple and economical solution path toward a converged IP service network.
Carriers and network operators who depend on the robustness of their SONET / SDH networks, can extend the full benefits of SONET / SDH reliability all the way to the edge of their network cost-effectively for both TDM and Ethernet services whether in point-to-point or in fully protected SONET ring topologies.
A fully-featured 1U platform with a selectable OC-3 / OC-12 optical interface and offering flexible modular cards for a broad set of service interfaces, the OSIRIS Compact is the ideal platform for a broad set of applications:
- 3G/4G mobile network backhaul
- Secure and scalable carrier Ethernet Transport
- Multi service aggregation
- Quad-play connectivity (voice, data, video and mobility)
- Technology mediation among TDM, ATM an Ethernet
The OSIRIS Compact centers around a next generation non-blocking switch architecture for SONET / SDH transport. In addition to supporting traditional TDM services, the OSIRIS Compact offers advanced features for efficient Ethernet service transport such as:
- Virtual concatenation (VCAT)
- Capacity adjustment scheme (LCAS)
- Generic framing procedure (GFP)
Traffic and Service management for today's services
At the edge of the network, it is critical for an access node to include the ability to monitor, control and manage services effectively and reliably. The OSIRIS Compact includes a broad set of capabilities to stand at the edge:
- High order (STS1) and low order(VT1.5) support
- Layer 2 packet intelligence to provide VLAN tagging, rate limiting, statistical multiplexing with multi-level QoS control
- Ethernet OAM (Y.1731, 802.lag, 802.3ah)
