The AK5NTE works in conjunction with the AK5000 series 8/4 pair Carrier Ethernet bonded copper products on the opposite end. It supports both symmetric/ asymmetric bandwidth, enabling service providers to cater to their end customers escalating bandwidth needs.

Asymmetric Business Ethernet and Backhaul Services
Traditionally, Ethernet services were only available to customers served by fiber. However, with the AK5NTE, service providers can now provide mid-band scalable carrier Ethernet business services to all customers out to 12 Kft/3.7 Km with no repeaters. With unique asymmetric features, service providers can rely on the self-contained AK5NTE to deliver cost effective competitive asymmetric business Ethernet services to their end customers. It is the only asymmetric copper bonded solution available in the market today, which can help protect the wireline service provider investment and shield against the competition. It is also ideal for intrinsic asymmetric bandwidth applications such as DSLAM and mobile backhaul.

Spectral Friendly and Compliant with Industry Standards
The AK5NTE is a standards-based product that provides superior performance and reliability compared to any other multi-pair copper product on the market. Unlike the competing bonded copper broadband systems, Positron’s products deliver services that can seamlessly co-exist in the same binder groups with ADSL, HDSL and other subscriber loop technologies. In addition to meeting copper loop standards such as ANSI T1.417, the AK5NTE is compliant with IEEE 802.3ah EFM, IEEE 802.1/802.3 LAN standards. Positron’s copper bonded products also comply with Metro Ethernet Forum MEF9/MEF14/ MEF17 requirements.

Light Weight Environmentally Hardened Enclosure
The AK5NTE self-contained standalone unit eliminates the need for expensive cabinet enclosures, heat exchangers and site construction, which account for a large portion of the total cost of deployment. The AK5NTE can be deployed in indoor or outside plants. Unlike the competing solutions requiring different enclosures to suit the environment, the AK5NTE is built on a light weight weather proof environmentally hardened enclosure, making it easier for the field professional to install on a pole or wall mount. With the line power feed, the AK5NTE can be deployed in any field cabinet or remote location without requiring a local power source.

The AK5NTE unit can be securely managed by AktinoView (Positron’s GUI software application) or via a command line interface (CLI). The AK5NTE interoperates with industry standard network management systems providing comprehensive performance monitoring for both Ethernet and physical layers.
